MS offers Net cafes a makeover
VISTA PROMOTION
Microsoft is reaching out to Internet cafes across Thailand with the promise of up to 10 new PCs and a makeover with new furniture, decor and a renovation of the interior worth 450,000 baht if they have the most impressive party and promotional activities to mark the launch of Windows Vista here.
To participate in this campaign, which is supported by Intel Microelectronics (Thailand), SVOA and True Corporation, each Internet cafe must purchase at least one new discounted SVOA PC with an Intel Core2 Duo processor with Windows Vista Premium edition, Microsoft Office 2007 software and a 19-inch Samsung monitor for a special promotional price of 24,900 baht.
Microsoft will provide the refreshments for a party on Saturday February 3 and the cafe judged as the one that hosts the best launch event will win the prize, with the winner to be announced March 15.
Other criteria that judges posing as "mystery shoppers" will assess will be that the Internet cafe makes effective use of Windows Vista merchandising and also of MSN Spaces.
"The more impressed the mystery shoppers are with decor and launch parties, the better a chance of a cafe winning the grand prize," a Microsoft press statement said.
Internet cafe owners wanting to participate and get more information about the promotion are urged to send email to Icafeth@microsoft.com.
Internet cafes were definitely a market that Microsoft wanted to serve, said Microsoft (Thailand) marketing director Derek Brown, adding: "We know that Internet cafe owners can create a real point of difference and add value to their business by using the genuine Microsoft Windows Vista operating system."
Microsoft's Internet cafe outreach is one of many activities being conducted in Thailand around the launch of Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.
Next Tuesday, Microsoft hosts a formal launch here for business decision-makers while a major launch of Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 to the general public is scheduled for January 30.
